《坝上街》以合肥改革开放30年的巨大变迁为背景，以肥西小井庄包产到户事件为切口，以合肥坝上街普通百姓的众生相为“舞台”，精心塑造了一大批“坝上街人”在改革开放的大潮中奋勇搏杀、艰难创业的生动故事，生动地反映了改革开放30年的巨大变化。《坝上街》是完全直接表现合肥，完全自主打造，又有较长集数的影视剧作品，这在合肥是首次；在安徽也是第一。有专家评价说，对于合肥乃至安徽，《坝上街》的直接宣传功效，至少在当前，是其它任何文化、艺术形式所无法企及的。
