影片改编自发生在澳大利亚1990年代的真实事件。当时在澳大利亚阿德莱德有一个连环杀人犯，他因为自己的心理需要而杀人，在接连犯下了十几条命案之后，这个叫做约翰·本廷的人终于被警方逮捕。因为有8个受害者的尸体被他装在了雪镇的木桶里，所以这个连环凶手又被叫做雪镇杀人狂（Snowtown murders）或者是木桶杀人狂（Bodies in Barrels murders）。在这两个名字中，murder都用了复数，其含义是约翰·本廷有三个帮手，分别是罗伯特·瓦格纳、马克·海顿和詹姆斯·瓦拉萨基斯。而影片中的杰米就是以瓦拉萨基斯为原型创造的。他认识本廷，并成为其团伙中一员的时候，正好是16岁。

本剧描写近未来的一家人琐碎的日常。未来（NON 饰）每天穿着运动衫在家里打游戏，自称是革命者，梦想构筑人类需要工作的未来。而父亲古吉（槙田雄司 饰）则是固执的保守派，两人总因为工作的事争吵。妈妈今子（堀内敬子 饰）与单纯可爱的机器人kotaro总是温柔地守护着一家人。哥哥友郎（本乡奏多饰）是一个科研者，他相信并支持妹妹的理想，发明了一堆先进道具，然而未来却滥用道具，惹出了一出出闹剧。
跟之前的"狗狗＂系列相同，本片是由 Anna McRoberts 和 Robert Vince 共同制片，由 Robert Vince 担任执导，而剧本同样由 Robert Vince 和 Anna McRoberts 所完成，小狗的配音随着童星成长也陆续换人了，而本片中演出的角色则包括有 Sierra McCormick 、Harland Williams 、Elisa Donovan 、Sage Ryan …等等。本片的配乐依然是由 Brahm Wenger 所负责。
