《致命追踪》讲述的是一个警匪谍战斗智斗勇的故事。卧底警察展昭阳（钱泳辰饰）被指派调查一起毒品制造案。化身为快递员的他在调查过程中遭遇到警匪两方的追捕和围杀，不能亮明身份的他只能依靠自己去破解重重迷索。在这个时候，他的好朋友丁琪（肖茵饰）被牵扯进来，展昭阳既要保护朋友又要躲避两方追杀，经历了多次遇险，甚至被活埋。在他的努力下，毒品案的真相渐渐冒出水面……
随着一纸命令的到达，这种短暂的平静很快被打破了。

该剧以新中国成立前后具有代表性的公安国保干部、战士为原型，塑造了张汉超、杨诚、王黎生、李文蕾等一批国保英雄。从解放初期肃清消除预谋暗害国家党政领导的凶徒到建国一周年大典前机智化解“炮击天安门”危机；从角逐旧势力潜伏敌特分子的一次次刺杀计划到顽强追踪击毙敌特金牌杀手；从破解反动势力企图炸毁“毛泽东专列”的阴谋诡计到挖出威胁共和国心脏的敌特情报网；从建国后对敌作战最前沿获取关键情报到斩断敌特流动的最后纽带。他们凭借大智大勇，笑迎挑战，和以国民党保密局局长毛人凤为首的特务群斗智斗勇，一次次化险为夷。他们用自己的无怨无悔、理想信念为共和国新政权的稳定取得了不可磨灭的贡献。
落魄的青年经纪人武大，无意获得了一幅改变其命运的古画。在家传聚宝盆的作用下，四名古代美女：西施、花木兰、妲己和杨玉环，穿越时空现身2018。她们的出现让武大对生活重新燃起希望。于是，开始游说四女成立“舞魅娘”舞蹈团，并参加了一场足以扬名立万的舞蹈大赛——“天下第一舞道会”！四女虽凭借从各自时空带来的技艺开始崭露头角，然而毕竟古今有别，舞蹈大会更是强者如林，劲敌“唯舞独尊”的出现也让几位曾高高在上的绝代佳人初次尝到了失败的滋味。而几位画中人，也开始明白了时代的变化，一方面磨砺着舞技，另一方面也开始经历各自不同的情感生涯。
