5. (1) In narrow waterways or navigation channels, if the overtaking ship can only overtake if it must take actions to allow safe passage, the ship attempting to overtake shall sound the corresponding sound signal specified in Article 34, paragraph 3 (1), to indicate the ship's intention. If forced to cross the ship, if agreed, the corresponding sound signal stipulated in Article 34, paragraph 3 (2), shall be sounded and measures shall be taken to enable it to pass safely. In case of doubt, the sound signal stipulated in Article 34, paragraph 4, may be sounded.
