本片改编自著名作家朝井辽同名小说，作为人气剧集《世界奇妙物语》的粉丝，朝井辽以自己的方式写下了短篇小说集《世界奇妙君物语》。这也是WOWOW剧集首度改编朝井辽小说作品。
